Robbed of All Its Glory
I know what you’re about to say
And I’d rather you not say it.
I’ve heard it so many times
By empty lips and vacant hearts,
That even if it were said by you
I’d have to think it was a lie.
How about saying something else?
Perhaps something new to our ears.
Or how about saying nothing at all
But soothe me when I’m raining tears.
Show me that I’m the one you love.
Anyone can just say the words,
But how many out there really mean
The phrase that everyone used to
Die for once in the old yet good days?
For the rest of our lives,
Lets dedicate each day trying to
Show our feelings for one another.
Then words wouldn’t be necessary
And we wouldn’t have to bother
Wishing on a star that these
Words be true. Please! Stop!
Don’t say, “I love you.”

Hey Mr.Donoso I really liked your poem. It was really deep, and very much so true. Saying "I love you" today is nothing but empty words at times. But as you captured in your poem its really about showing more than telling.
I also liked this poem. Like Kennrick said this poem is very deep because I can tell that you or whoever this poem is about, that they have been hurt before or lied to by the person who said they loved you. I can also understand how you stated " Lets dedicate each day trying to
Show our feelings for one another.
Then words wouldn’t be necessary
And we wouldn’t have to bother
Wishing on a star that these
Words be true. Please! Stop!
Don’t say, “I love you.” Becasue to me these lines are saying actions speaks louder than words.
I liked this poem for it is very true. Anyone can say I love you, just because you say it doesn't mean you mean it. Like you can say your sorry just because you feel like you should. But instead you don't sentinmental at all. This poem makes me think about all the lies we are feed everyday. Such as hearing I love you after you dated the person for a week. You know it isn't true it just a week. The person doesn't know that much about you, and is using the term so lightly. Since we use the term so lightly today when I hear I love you it makes me question. Are they saying it and actually feeling "love" or are they just making the statement in order to blind us into thinking they actually do?
Hey Mr.Donoso, i think that you are an amazing poem writter. It seems so natural like a person in life is causing the pain you can feel in this poem. This poem to me is supposed to be kind of depressing, becuase its like you're saying that just saying"i love you" dose'nt mean that you truly love someone."Show me that I’m the one you love.
Anyone can just say the words,
But how many out there really mean
The phrase that everyone used to
Die for once in the old yet good days?" This to me is the most meaning full quote in the poem. It says what everyone feels, in just a short paragraph.
Great poem.
Wow, I didn't realize you wrote poetry so well. This poem really made me stop and think about all the teenagers these days that start saying these three strong words before they truly know their, so called, lover. People should really understand that love goes beyond words. It's about caring about this person even when they have done wrong. It's about cherishing every moment you spend with them. You're poem really gets this point across; that love is stronger without these three simple words. I love it!
Mr.Donoso, I thought this poem was really good. It went into so much detail about love and some of us could actually relate. People our age are just used to saying it without meaning rather then showing it and that is how many of us get hurt in relationships. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work.

This is a really interesting poem it realy gets into detail abou tlove how many people can say it but how many people actually mean it. really good poems mr.donoso
--Sarto Joli, Block 2
The way the poet spoke as he said that don't say those three words was somewhat similar to how I feel sometimes. I've been in certain relationships that caused me to make a brick wall against almost any tha says i love you.
Hey Mr.Donoso, I think this poem is very well written. That when people say "I love you" now a days they don't mean it and they know it and the only way someone can truly tell you that they love you is by showing it and not say it.
dont you see, love is dead, people dont love, they LIE, that is the way of this world, that is, of course in my expiriance, I cant say for sure what your expiriances are though, but I'm sure if you looked within your memories, youd see the lies too, as would anyone else
Mr.Donoso Omg....... By the way this is Sheriece:-)
I didn't know you had it in you lol. No but this poem is off the chain i read it about 5x I mean its really good but besides the fact that it has a rhythm and flows so nicely and it talks about love it actually has a profound message behind it. I like how you talk about this word as evryone pass it around like its nothing but you bring out in this poem that the word "Love" starts to lose its value after a while because it is said in all the wrong occasions and used wrongly by many. I agree with you 100% that it is more important to show someone how you feel and be sincere with it than to abuse the word I Love you. I loved your poem and i think your doing a great job. Do Wat U Do Your #1 Student Reesey
Hey Mr. Donoso. It's your favorite student Christine. yes, yes. Your poem, was touching to me because it's true, people [especially boys] don't take the time and wait to say "I love you" with meaning, people just throw it out there and really abuse those 3 little words that are suppose to have A LOT meaning. The verse where you said:
"How about saying something else?
Perhaps something new to our ears.
Or how about saying nothing at all
But soothe me when I’m raining tears."
Would prove to someone that, that person loves you when they comfort you and it's a given that you mean a lot to the person; loved by them.
might I said Mr. Donoso, Kudos!
=D
Mr. Donoso this poem tells how people are people are easily mesmerized by a simple three word sentence. You are showing how this sentence is empty, it doesn't show how much you care about the person and anyone can say it. I like this poem but after reading this, I remember what my friend told me "What lies in action, is encrypted into words..."
I really liked your poem and it made me relize that what it said was so true and that people take those tree words for granted. It made me relize that I am one of those poeple because I say "I love u" just to say you're nice or I like you.

whoaaaaa. This poem was really cool. It made me think back on the things i said to other people that i probably shouldnt have.It shows how people [especially girls] are so easily drawn into the lovey dovey realm and never think back to real life. They think that if they say i luv u, it means they will be together forever.not.
Anyways, cool poem.
Hey Mr D. It's matt M. This poem was realy cool. i liked it because I can relate to it, People these days, teenagers especially, throw "I Love You" around without understanding what it means. You bring up the fact that actions speak louder thenwords, and this is so true. i would rather someone prove that they love me throughout a lng relationship, then to just tell me they love me on the first date just to break up with me a couple weeks later. lol anyways great poetry I'm looking foward to reading more
Thank you Mr. Donoso, for letting it be known that girls like to play around with the "I Love You" sentence. I knew this girl in Hollywood, and we used to be together for a while, but she didn't want anything to do with me when I didn't say, "I Love You Too".
I don't really know what love means at all, so I wouldn't feel comfortable telling a girl that I loved her if I wasn't feeling it. I feel like a "punk", because I am afraid to say, "I LOVE YOU".
I agree with Kenrick, alot of times when people say "I love you" they dont mean it
i completely agree with you...so many people out there speak and say such things but thier hearts are cold and empty. It doesn't mean nothing when it doesn't come from the heart. it mean somethin though when that person shows their love to you, like a mother shows her love to you. great poem.
Well i think that this was a powerful poem. It had really cught my attention especially the last line "dont say "i love you" it was powerful and pretty surprising cause i'm sord of a punk to say those words.
Mr.Donoso,
this poem has really made me deep think about many things.
it is a very intresting poem dont ever stop to writ poems.
every single one of them has a meaning.
In the past there have been Shakespere, Robert Frost, Langston hughs and now Partico Donoso. never have I read such an inspiring master piece. This poem is truly one for the ages. I feel that the poet has spilled is very soul into the poem
kudos.
Robbed of all its Glory
“For the rest of our lives,
Lets dedicate each day trying to
Show our feelings for one another.” I strongly agree with this sentence, I think that it is much more important to show someone the love you feel for them rather then to just saying those three very simple most meaningful words. “I love you” is very powerful and people take love for granted. I feel that you must show love before you even think twice about saying it. It also means more coming from actions then from moving lips. The tone is very hurt and romantic I know this because when you say “I’ve heard it so many times
By empty lips and vacant hearts,
That even if it were said by you
I’d have to think it was a lie.” That’s to me shows that you have been hurt before by the phrase “I love you” I too have been hurt by those words and I feel your pain at times. I like this poem a lot because not only do I relate to it but I also see that love hurts many people and it is not a punishment its just a way to improve and mature. I strongly agree with Sarto when he says, many people can say it but how many truly people actually mean it? Love is very powerful and shouldn’t be treated lightly.
This poem is really deep Mr. Donoso. You're right when you say the words "I love you" mean nothing these days. I've had personal experience in this. I believe that actions speak louder then words in most instances, especially when it comes down to love because someone can say I love you a million times yet when they do nothing to support their claim, it crumbles underneath you both.
hey mr.D i actually like this poem, i agree with its meaning and i understood what it was saying from the first stanza. kids and adults alike both do this in todays modern society, its not often that you find people who are truely in love anymore. it becomes a word that is over used and under appreciated. ill admit ive said it before to somebody who i didnt love. i like the last stanza the best, when it talks about showing love in your actions and not your words, i like this because actions are stronger then words.
Robbed of All Its Glory
“For the rest of our lives,
Lets dedicate each day trying to
Show our feelings for one another.” This line made me think about marriages it made me think about living a life with a husband or wife, and it’s meaningless when someone keeps saying it with no meaning but if you know how each other feels you won’t need the words.
It affected me in the way that someone wants their partner to say things with meaning not to just say it.
The tone of the poem is like an annoyed person who is tired of hearing the same thing repeatedly.
I like the hyperbole “But soothe me when I’m raining tears.” Because it is an obvious exaggeration of crying, because it means crying, or feeling sad.
I like this poem because it is true in a lot of cases, it makes sense and people these days use it way to often, and it is not used significantly.

Poem: “Robbed of All Its Glory”
I thought this poem great. What you were trying to express was true. People these days just don’t have any emotion when they say something, in a lot of cases.
“By empty lips and vacant hearts”
This line got me because it explains what I was trying to say earlier. In this line, “empty lips” means to me that people just talk too much. “Vacant hearts” would mean that they just don’t mean what they are saying. That is what brings you to the line “I’d have to think it was a lie.” When people don’t mean what they say and express no emotions, then they are most likely lying to you. “Vacant hearts” could also be a hyperbole. The heart isn’t literally empty. It just means what I explained above.
“Or how about saying nothing at all
But soothe me when I’m raining tears.”
I agree with these lines too. Many times words just don’t mean anything. People might say stuff to comfort you, but are they really there when you need them the most? Sometimes I believe that people shouldn’t just talk. They should take action according to what they say.
I have to agree with what everyone says, but I feel that “crazygurl :)” used more than just the “I love you” example most people are talking about. She said that people say sorry without really meaning it. They only say it because they think it is the correct thing to do. I have to agree with that because a lot of times when I say “sorry”, I just don’t care whether I’m really sorry or not. The same thing applies to many people. In my opinion, I have a lot of respect for those who would rather not say “sorry” than those who do say it without really meaning it. At least those people are honest enough to show that they don’t care.
I think the tone of the poem is irritated. It annoys you to hear people saying the same thing over and over again, but not mean it. “Please! Stop! Don’t say, “I love you.”
shows that you would prefer that people keep quiet than be fake.
The fourth line “By empty lips and vacant heart,” expresses the opinion that many people say, “I love you” but the words flow straight out their mouth with no true meaning. I agree with this, it made me think of all the drama that goes on in high school that involve the theme of love and how kids act as if they can but meaning to the word love. It makes me feel sad that those words are literally changing in meaning. The poem has a tone of vex. In the second stanza it shows that there is a great deal of annoyance by the fact of people using the phrase “I love you” by the asking to say something new, or saying nothing and show love with actions.
When it says, perhaps something new to our ears, on the second stanza it is a form of personification because it is figuratively saying that ears can remember what has been said to them which they can’t the mind does. In the last line of the next stanza it says that people once died for that phrase. This is a hyperbole because it exaggerates the fact way too much; people wouldn’t really be giving up their lives for that expression literally. Another example of a hyperbole is back in the second stanza where it says, to soothe me when am raining tears, no one I know can cry as much as it rains so this is a clear form of exaggeration. I liked how poem over all because it was very descriptive such as when it said empty lips and vacant hearts to put emphasis that the phrase “I love you” had no meaning. I agree with realreader008straightupg that people now a day’s use the phrase way too much. It is as if the meaning had changed completely. It is as realreader008straightupg said not used significantly.
